Suds Magazine has a very special tie to The Philippines and we have a lot of fans there. For the next few weeks, we’ll be profiling some outstanding beer venues in the Manila area.
Our first spot is known as The Beer Gallery, created by our friend Francis. The Beer Gallery is an intimate import and craft beer drinking experience located in the Offbeat Cafe in Makati’s hip “The Collective” located at 7274 Malugay Street.
The Collective is a collection of small, young, hip, upstart retail and food businesses located in the heart of Manila’s key financial district. From bicycle repair to clothing shops and funky restaurants, this venue has all the feel of Portland, Oregon’s food cart pods.
The Offbeat Cafe offers up some pretty offbeat menu options including the Krispy Kreme Burger and the ultimate beer accompaniment, Deep Fried Bacon! Francis has taken this eclectic joint to a new level by setting up a selection of import and craft beers, including some of our favourites such as Leffe, Anderson Valley Brewing and Gordon Biersch.
So, when you are out on the town, enjoying some live music at one of The Collective’s cool bars, swing on by The Beer Gallery for a very enjoyable beer sampling experience. This spot is sure to be an educational experience for the hipster, urban 20-something clientele of Manila and is a welcome addition to the growing craft beer scene in the city.
