2011 Craft Beer tour of The Philippines2010 Manila Beer Tour Review

Suds Magazine loves The Philippines. Once a Beer Wasteland, the country is now embracing craft beer and we are proud to be experiencing the rapid changes with annual trips to this wonderful country.

Great Island Craft Brewery

Highly Anticipated Great Islands Craft Brewery is soon to be brewing craft beer commercially in The Philippines

In January of 2010, Suds Magazine profiled Manila’s craft beer scene and was introduced to many craft beer hotspots like Beers Paradise, Pivo Restobar and more. We also tasted Manila’s only microbrewery, Pivo Praha.

In 2011, Suds Magazine did a major craft beer tour of The Philippines including a tour to Bacolod to visit Bogs Brew. We spent a lot of time in the Metro Manila area visiting numerous beer-centric bars and restaurants. The changes from 2010 were very evident and very positive. Hopefully we’ll do it again in 2012.

  3. Pivo has its own microbrewery now? Sweet :D !!!! Time to pay it a visit again. A few years ago, all they had were imported beers

    • Hi Ray! Pivo Praha in Makati brews their beer, but Pivo Restobar is still just a restaurant serving up a lot of imported beers. Have you tried BogsBrew from Bacolod yet?

  4. Oh. Thanks for clarifying :)

I have not tried any of the local craft beers. Just started appreciating these craft beers recently, and I think I stumbled upon the wealth of information in this site from your comment in En Route. It’s really exciting and I feel like it’s my duty as a citizen here in Manila to spread the word on appreciating beer aside from its alcoholic properties :P
