It’s an annual pilgrimage for me every summer. The Oregon Brewers Festival on the shores of the Willamette River in beautiful downtown, Portland. This year was no disappointment.

The Festival held on the last full weekend every July (starting on the Thursday). Eighty or more breweries pour only one of their beers for either a dollar sample or a four dollar full cup.
After 5PM the festival gets a little crazy with long lines so it’s a good time to explore the other beer wonders of the city which include around 40 breweries/brewpubs.
One newer addition to the scene in Portland is the Cascade Brewing Barrel House. Here one can sample many of their Sour Beers. They are colorful to look at and even more appealing to drink.

This was also the year that I got to try the infamous Voodoo Doughnuts. After about 30 minutes in line, late on a Sunday night, I managed to take back to my hotel, a very special, very delicious Maple Bacon Doughnut. Of course, I had to pair it with a local ale and I chose the “Nice Rack IPA” from Southern Oregon Brewing. Mmmmmm…… Worth the wait.

See you in 2012! Cheers!!
